The bottle brush tree is a common flowering sight in temperate climates. Originating in Australia, the technical genus name is Callistemon in the family of Myrtaceae. It is, however, commonly known as the bottle brush because it’s flowers resemble a kitchen brush used to clean the inside of bottles.
The images contained in this gallery were taken with a macro lens making visible details of the flowers that otherwise often go unnoticed. Every bud is a collection of delicate threads which when they blossom create the familiar lovely bottle brush appearance.
