Oahu’s Waianae Coast

Oahu’s Waianae coast,on the west side of the island provides many expansive white sand beaches, and several coves and inlets formed by rugged lava rock. Unlike the other islands in the state of Hawaii, Oahu houses Honolulu, a bustling cosmopolitan city with high rise buildings, ample traffic and all the amenities one would expect in a city. And, in addition, within an hour’s drive, you also have pristine beaches with notable spots for surfing, diving, snorkeling, swimming, fishing, hiking and biking, as well as some very scenic locations ideal for landscape photography.

Although Waianae is considered one of the poorer areas of Oahu, economically speaking, it is very rich in natural beauty. This part of Oahu is naturally hot, arid  and somewhat isolated, with little fresh water; and yet, the sea off the coast of Waianae has always supplied abundance of fish, hence the name Wai-water, anae-large mullet.
